The Gameboy Advance was released in Japan on March 21 2001. It was released in America several months later. Like the Gameboy color it featured a reflective screen. This was a step backward from the early color systems like the Sega GameGear, but did use less battery power. The system performs at a level similar to the Super Nintendo. In 2003 Nintendo released the Gameboy Advance SP. It has a backlit screen, a built in Lithium Ion Battery, and a sleek clamshell design. A smaller version of the system called the Gameboy Advance Micro was released in 2005. The system uses a 32-bit ARM processor running at 16.78MHZ. It has 32 KB of RAM. It can display 512 colors from a palette of 32,768. The screen measures 2.9" and is 240x160 pixels. |
