Tiger released the Game.com in 1997. In some respects it was quite revolutionary, as it was the first handheld with touch screen technology. It was also the first handheld with two game slots, with a mute button, and with internet connectivity. However, in other respects it was out of date, as it had a black and white screen that was not lighted.
The system was marketed as a cross between a game system and a PDA. So in addition to its normal game functions, it has a calendar, phone book, calculator, and solitare game. Part of its RAM is used to store high scores. The system is well designed. Its case is best compared with that of the Sega GameGear. The system is light and portable, but cannot be put in your pocket like the Gameboy. The stylus snaps into a slot beneath the screen. As can be seen from the pictures, the system has all of the normal features that you would expect from a handheld system. There is D/C input on the top of the system, volume and contrast adjustments on its left side, and a headphone jack on the bottom.
The system runs on 4 AA batteries. The battery cover is attached to the case, so it will not be lost.
The system features four action buttons and a good joypad. It also has a large screen. However, it does have blurring problems with fast action games. In 1999 Tiger released two new versions of the Game.com. The first, called the Game.com Pro, had a better screen and came in one of several colors. The second version, called the Game.com Pro Light, and was side lit.
The following is a complete list of games for the system.
