The Sega Gamegear was released in 1991. It is in essense a portable version of the Sega Master System. It is somewhat larger than the Gameboy, but features a backlit color screen.
It uses a Z80 cpu running at 3.6 MHz. It features a 3.2" backlit color screen. The resolution is 160x144. It has a 4096 color palette. It could handle 64 8x8 sprites. 24 k ram Like the Gameboy it has 4 channel audio. The Gamegear has an adaptor that allows it to play Master System games. It also has a television tuner attachment that turns the system into a portable TV.
