In the early days of video gaming, systems were marketed as computers. For example, the Atari 2600 was first sold as the Video Computer System, and the N.E.S. was sold in Japan as the Famicom, which was short for family computer. Over time, video game consoles became accepted. By the mid 80's, the roles had reversed, and some computer companies were marketing their computers as game consoles. The Atari XEGS was one such system. The Amstrad GX4000 was another.

It was a beautiful system that looks something like a cross between a PC Engine Shuttle and a Nintendo 64. It featured a two button keypad, and could also use Amstrad Joysticks. Sadly, the games for the system were dated, and could not compete with the Sega MegaDrive.
