NEC PC FX 3/4 view

The PC-FX was released to the Japanese market in 1994 and was N.E.C.'s last video game system. It was discontinued in 1998. It was the first tower gaming system.

The PC-FX uses a a 32-Bit NEC V810 RISC processor running at 21.5 MHz. Like the PSX it has a 2x speed CD-ROM drive. It also has a sharp resolution of 640x448 pixels. Being a 32-bit system the PC-FX has a 16 million color pallet and could display all of the colors on the screen simultaneously. It also has JPEG compression at 30fps. It also has a whopping 26 megabytes of RAM, which could be expanded. The system has hardware support for nine scrolling background layers layers

The PC-FX games were packaged in large plastic cases. Although the system is often overlooked, more than 50 games were produced. These include
